James Wu

Coach

Coach James Wu started badminton training at age 12 in Beijing and competed in several junior tournaments. During his middle and high school years, he joined the adult Beijing Haidian badminton team to compete in the Beijing City Games. He continued his extensive training with the Beijing Junior Team afterwards.

Coach James continued badminton training through college and graduate school in preparation for the Beijing Colleges Badminton Championship. He represented the Beijing College Team in the Beijing City Games and have won Team Championship awards and individual (single and double) awards in numerous tournaments.

Under great influence from his badminton coach, Coach James was able to manage and complete his graduate studies in Math Science and achieve his dreams to teach in his university while maintaining a competitive badminton playing level. Coach James has coached junior teams in Beijing to compete in numerous tournaments all through his college career.

Coach James came to the states in the late 1980’s to continue his graduate studies, and continues to maintain his fitness level by working out and playing racket sports, such as tennis in which he has a 4.5 USTA rating and quickly became his favorite sport. Racket sports have so much similarity and it has helped him understand badminton even better.

Coach James feels very fortunate to join BBC’s coaching team and looks forward to helping people of all ages to reach fitness goals through playing badminton.
